Details:
Looking for a plant that will add some serious wow factor to your garden? Look no further than the Callistemon Salignus, otherwise known as the Willow Bottlebrush. This vibrant shrub has pink-red new growth and yellow flowers that bloom from late spring to early autumn. And if you’re looking for a plant that will really make a statement, this can grow into a tree!
But beware – the Callistemon Salignus has an invasive root system, so be sure to plant it at least 10 metres away from any buildings. It suits most soil types ranging from open sand to clay and prefers to be planted in full sun. The plant is also pretty tough, tolerating dry periods, frosts, winds, moderate coastal exposure and wet conditions.
For best results, mulch well to conserve soil moisture and suppress weeds. And fertilise with a native slow-release fertilizer to really make the Callistemon Salignus thrive. Plus, these plants attract birds and insects, so you can enjoy watching nature at work in your own backyard!
