Doryanthes Excelsa Gymea Lily is an evergreen shrub or small tree growing to 6–8 m tall. The leaves are strap-like, with a sharp point on the end. The flowers are borne in a nodding inflorescence at the end of the leafy stems. They are tubular and bright red, with six petal-like tepals which open outwards into star shapes. Flowering occurs mainly from September to November in its native range. This spectacular Australian native plant is sure to make a statement in your garden! The large, strap-like leaves can reach up to 2m in height, and in spring and summer, Doryanthes Excelsa Gymea Lily bears beautiful deep red, torch-shaped flowers.
