Glazed Pots

A glazed pot is a ceramic container (clay, stoneware, or porcelain) with a glassy, often colourful, liquid coating applied before firing. This finish seals the porous surface, making the pot waterproof, stronger, and more decorative, while reducing moisture loss compared to unglazed terracotta.

The finish on a glazed pot provides a glossy, matte, or textured look in various colors, making them ideal for dressing up a room or garden space. They are perfect for plants that require consistent moisture (e.g., tropicals), as they prevent soil from drying out quickly.

Indoor Pots

Did You Know?

The right pot makes all the difference for indoor plant health and style. Here are a few things worth knowing:

  • Pots without drainage holes are the top cause of indoor plant death. Excess water sits at the bottom and rots roots. Always use pots with drainage holes, or use a simple nursery pot inside a decorative outer pot so you can tip out excess water.
  • Terracotta pots help prevent overwatering. The porous material wicks moisture away from the soil, which is ideal for plants that prefer to dry out between waterings. Terracotta is particularly good for succulents, cacti, and Mediterranean herbs.
  • Pot colour affects soil temperature. Dark-coloured pots absorb more heat, which can stress roots in direct sunlight near a window. Light-coloured pots reflect heat and keep soil temperatures more stable indoors.
