Timbers and Fence Screens

Garden timbers and fence screens provide structure, borders, and privacy for your outdoor space. From raised bed edging to decorative screening, timber products add a natural warmth to garden design.

We stock garden sleepers, timber stakes, bamboo screening, brush fencing, and decorative fence screens in various styles and sizes. These products are practical for building raised beds, creating garden borders, and adding privacy.

Treated pine sleepers are a popular choice for raised garden beds. They’re affordable, easy to work with, and last for years. For a more natural look, hardwood sleepers or recycled railway sleepers add character.

Fence screens made from bamboo, brush, or reed provide instant privacy and wind protection when attached to an existing fence. They’re a quick, affordable alternative to a full fence replacement.

Did You Know?

Timber products add structure and warmth to any garden. Here are a few practical tips:

  • Treated pine sleepers are safe for veggie gardens. Modern CCA-treated timber uses copper-based preservatives that are approved for garden use. If you prefer to avoid treated timber, line the inside of raised beds with heavy-duty plastic sheeting.
  • Bamboo screening degrades faster on the side facing weather. Attach bamboo screens to the sheltered side of your fence frame where possible, and apply a UV-protectant sealant annually to extend their lifespan in Melbourne’s harsh summers.
  • Raised beds made from timber are warmer than in-ground beds. The soil in raised beds warms up faster in spring, which means you can start planting warm-season crops a few weeks earlier. This is a real advantage in Melbourne’s outer suburbs where frosts linger.
