Description
A bold, evergreen clumping plant with large paddle-shaped leaves and striking orange and blue flowers in spring and summer. The flowers resemble a tropical bird in flight — it’s easy to see where the name comes from.
Native to South Africa. Grows well in full sun to part shade and handles Melbourne’s conditions once established. Low maintenance and makes a strong statement planted in the garden or in a large pot.
