Description
A vigorous deciduous climber with cascading clusters of fragrant lavender-blue flowers in late spring. The drooping flower racemes can be 30cm or more — spectacular when grown over a pergola, arch, or strong fence.
Needs a solid support structure — wisteria gets heavy. Prune in late summer and again in winter to control growth and encourage flowering. Full sun and well-drained soil. A long-lived plant that gets better with age in Melbourne gardens.
Botanical name: Wisteria sinensis
