Description
A classic culinary herb with soft, velvety, grey-green leaves and a strong, savoury fragrance. Used widely in Mediterranean cooking — particularly with pork, poultry, and stuffing. Lilac-blue flower spikes appear in spring and summer.
Grows to around 60cm. Plant in full sun with free-draining soil. Harvest leaves before flowering for the best flavour. Cut back after flowering to keep the plant compact. Drought tolerant.
Botanical name: Salvia officinalis
