Description
A large deciduous tree with deeply lobed leaves that turn vivid reds, oranges, and yellows in autumn — one of the most spectacular autumn displays of any tree. The source of maple syrup in North America. Dense, rounded canopy provides heavy shade in summer.
Grows to around 20m over time. Prefers cooler conditions — suits Melbourne’s outer eastern and Dandenong Ranges suburbs. Plant in full sun with moist, well-drained soil. Needs space.
