Description
A fast-growing deciduous tree bearing abundant sweet berries in summer — the fruit ranges from white to pink to deep purple when fully ripe. The berries are popular fresh, in smoothies, and in baking. Provides good shade in summer. The leaves are the traditional food source for silkworms.
Grows to around 10m. Hardy and adaptable — handles a range of soil types. Plant in full sun. Be aware that falling fruit can stain paving and paths.
